Once a week I’m going to talk about the bigger stuff in redoing a home like when to do it yourself and when it may be better to hire someone, how to hire, where to find good people, how to keep the costs down, where to shop and whatever else I remember that would be helpful to share on this process. I’ve managed a lot of repairs, renovations and workers on home jobs. About how many you ask? Hundreds. No kidding. My company managed just over 200 properties and with that came a long list of items to repair, maintain, fix and troubleshoot.
I’ve dealt with roof repairs, AC issues, window leaks, simple caulking, electrical issues, repairing walls, replacing lights, repairing garage doors, raising foundations, countless hot waters replaced, leaking faucets fixed and the list goes on…OK so you get the picture.
I am all about thrifty and I am all about value. I Will DIY when it’s a reasonable and cost effective answer (or just plain fun). I will call in an expert when the job calls for more brawn or expertise than I have. Ladies… this is where I see things go a kilter the most! How do you find the right person for the right job? How much to pay or not over pay?
I get these questions a lot. Dearest friends and loving family this is for you 🙂 I’m excited about finally getting all of this down and in one organized place. If there is a particular question or topic you’d like me to talk about, by all means please send it to me~ there’s SO much to talk about! I will do my best to answer it and if I don’t have the answer I have several great vendors and contractors I can call on for a question.
I absolutely love this stage of redoing a house. The big stuff. It can be messy, tiring, fun, stressful and hard work. But, planning and out your space and implementing your own design is incredibly rewarding not to mention thrifty!
