Our Coastal Holiday Tablescape
This year will be special, and I’ll be prepared
…on time.
And I’ll help you do it too.
You guessed it, I went with a coastal holiday tablescape. But… If I left out the starfish, this could be a rustic casual table decorated for Thanksgiving that could work anywhere:)
I used my painted pumpkins for tabletop decor.
Along with mixed elegant and casual elements like our family silver that has been around for several generations on a burlap tablecloth.
A small grapevine wreath was easy to unravel by soaking it overnight. I wound it along with strings of pearls around the pumpkins.
I made these coastal starfish DIY Table Chargers. You could make them to fit any style or color of your thanksgiving or holiday table decorations.
I don’t have space to store a lot of tabletop and holiday decor. I love that I can incorporate some of my daily items in a festive holiday table setting.
This year is kind of special since we’ll have two Thanksgiving gatherings. One here where I’ll get to use my coastal holiday tablescape and another one with our kids in TX.
Take away the pumpkins and this coastal holiday tablescape looks great for for a nice dinner with friends or family any time of the year.

What a great idea it is so hard to do fall at the beach. Thanks for the inspiration!
Wendi says
Hi Kat and thank you so much! I felt totally challenged with holiday decor at the beach. Even more so with coming up with fall and winter holiday tablescapes. So glad this was helpful for you! Thanks for your note and visit!

I just recently found your blog via your post with the Amy Howard paint project! May I ask what paint(s) you used on your pumpkins! I have painted small plastic pumpkins with good ol’ spray paint, but yours are so much nicer! TIA
Tracy
Wendi says
Hi Tracy and welcome! I’m so glad you found my blog:) Spray paint won’t give the finish or the depth I think you want. I used a bunch of leftover chalk and chalk type paint on those pumpkins. A quality chalky type paint that sticks well is a good choice. A craft one like DecoArts Chalky Finish is a good choice or quality furniture paint like Amy Howards One Step which can be found at Ace Hardware is another good choice. Chalk type paint like Annie Sloan and American Paint Company need to be sealed with a wax or sealer so I wouldn’t pick those for this type of project. Good luck & Thanks so much for your visit!

Good Morning Wendi…Love how you mixed the traditional Thanksgiving decor with coastal elements…and it works so nicely. I’m on the coast in North Carolina, but haven’t done as nice a job as you have in bringing the coastal elements to my otherwise traditional decor. You’re inspiring me to give it a try!
Thanks for sharing.
Lynn

Hi Lynn… I love mixing styles. I think I’ve grown into that as my overall style. I’m challenged here because traditional doesn’t fit so well with our house design. Lucky you to have it and have a coastal home! I’m sure you’ll do a beautiful job of mixing your styles. Have fun with it!
Sarah @ Pretty Simple Ideas says

Wendi says

Hi Wendi – I got to tell you how much I love your Coastal, Beachy Center Tablescape. It is so beautiful. It took me back to memories when I lived on the river. It was around Christmas and I decorated everything Beachy. My beautiful Christmas tree was decorated with sea shells, star fish and sand dollars and natical bows. It was just as pretty when the lights were of. I done a tablescape however, not as beautiful as yours. I love and enjoy seeing the different things you make and come up with. Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving. Liz
Wendi says
Thank you so much Liz. I’m glad my tablescape brought back good memories from your past holidays. Your tree sounds beautiful, I’m sure it was too. Again, thanks for your visit and taking a moment to leave such a nice comment. Wishing you a beautiful Thanksgiving too!
Diane | An Extraordinary Day says
I love the fresh simplicity of your tablescape Wendi. As much as I enjoy all the fall colors… your table is adorable and I would love to sit down there and dine with you. 🙂
Wendi says
Hi Diane.. I’d love for you to join me too:) Thanks you for such a nice compliment on my tablescape. I love the colors and beachy feel and realized as I was putting it all together that a casual elegant table fits our home and lifestyle. Thanks so much for your visit!
Malia says
Absolutely gorgeous! What a lovely idea and beautifully executed!
Wendi says
Thank you so much! It’s tough to use traditional fall colors in our area since we never see a red or rust color naturally.
Maryann @ Domestically Speaking says
You know I love all things coastal and your Thanksgiving tablescape is gorgeous! Love all the blues… so pretty!
Wendi says
Thanks so much Maryann! I think you and I are cut from the same cloth with our love for coastal. I’ve learned to appreciate and love blues since living on the coast:)
Therese says

Wendi says
Thank you Therese…This is so your style too, except maybe with a little more color! I’m loving the blue painted pumpkins this year.. Thanks and have a wonderful thanksgiving too my friend!
Paula@SweetPea says
Your coastal themed Thanksgiving table is perfect for your area of the country. I love the colors that you used and how great they look with the burlap table cloth.
Wendi says
Thanks Paula! Burlap seemed like the perfect choice for a tablecloth. I tried some of my others and they were so out of place! We are a casual and casual elegant area at best! Looking forward to seeing what you do next year with your rustic and gorgeous new lake house!
kristin says
