This DIY full length wood mirror frame is perfect for a New Year’s project. We’ve desperately needed a full length mirror in our bath for the longest time, so this project is useful in more than one way. Each year I pick a word or a phrase that symbolizes something important to me, an area I feel I need to focus on for personal growth. This year I picked a group of words and made them part of my inspirational words DIY full length wood mirror frame project.
I read somewhere it takes three weeks for a new behavior to form into a habit.
My thought on this is that if I use my mirror everyday, 365 days a year, my positive words for the year will really sink in! Which words did I choose and why?
After some careful thought and a good walk on the beach to think about it, I picked the below words, they all have a special meaning to me.
Connect…more often and deeper with friends, family and those around me
Inspire…others
Create…a beautiful life and beauty around me
Renew…and repurpose for less waste
Believe…in myself and others
This frame was made from a 1″ x 3″ piece of poplar. It can easily be made to fit any size mirror or used to frame something else. Handwrite inspirational words, sentences or even your favorite poem. It wasn’t hard. You’ll find the full DIY tutorial on the Ryobi Nation Website. In fact, you’ll find several other projects for their New Year New You campaign there too.
I love the dual purpose of my DIY full length wood mirror frame.
Did you guys know I’ve shared several other DIY tutorials on Ryobi Nation? Projects like my DIY Four Poster Bed, yes guys, I built my own bed! You can also find darling plans to build a small pet bed. I made it for Soup Can Sam, he’s happy it’s comfy and I’m happy it looks like a nice piece of furniture in my living area. I’ve even made a classic and simple window flower box.
Check out my projects and then check out the other tutorials from other DIY bloggers and hobbyists.

I use a wet saw all the time to cut glass bottles for my wind chimes. i also use other power tools but use the wet saw the most. I named mine Henry. He is fixen to get a major work out since it is spring and warming up. I am going to take rings to a clay shop and we are going to try and play around and melt the rings down for a different form of wind chime. I am fixen to make over an old antique radio into a pet bed. So i will be using my sander quite a bit. I love my palm sander. Its name is SanDee. I name my sewing machines also.

I love that idea. I have a photo frame where I put my words for the year in. And last year I created a vision board with phrases that I felt were empowering.

i use the skill saw the most
Wendi says
Hi Carol, That’s one tool I still want to try. I think I’ve been lazy since I use the table and chop saw so much. Thanks for entering and good luck!

Absolutely LOVE this idea. My word for the year is flourish and I have JOY in big carved wooden letters in my living room! Think the idea of words on the mirror is just outstanding. I may have to write them on the actual mirror edges with a paint pen!
Wendi says
Hi Linda and thank you! I LOVE your word choices too. Joy was my word in 2016 🙂 A dry erase marker works well on a mirror or glass too. It will come off when wiped though. So happy you liked my project; I hope it inspires you to create something with your special word for the year too! Thanks so much for your note.

Oh, my! What a wonderful giveawat! I would love to own a router next, I think, after seeing KimSix’s project for the undersink organization…I need a router, though, for sure! I just love your site. I adore all things beachy, and your blog is so inspirational. Even though I live in the Pacific Northwest, we’re on the east side of the state – no beach, for sure. But that’s where we spend all our vacation time. And I love to decorate my home in a beach-themed style. Thanks for all the great ideas!!!
Wendi says
Hi Laurie and thank you! I’m with you, after seeing Kim’s router project I’d love to own a router too. Wasn’t that a brilliant idea she came up with? Loved it! Thanks so much for your sweet compliment on my blog and projects. I love that I can share my ideas with others and inspire them to do projects in their homes too. Thanks so much for your visit, kind note and entering the giveaway! Good luck!
