I made this hanging measuring cup and spoon organizer because it was cute, but after using it for the last year, I’m sold on how easy it is to grab what I need when I need it…OK, it’s cute too!
These drawers were just too big not to have some system of organization! I made these Easy Wood Drawer Dividers out of 1/4 plywood scraps I had. This is an easy project!

I’m having a hard time trying to organize my kitchen but I don’t have really any space whatsoever. I don’t have a pantry, or any drawers. I don’t really have a lot of wall space either. Do you see my delema? Do you have any ideas for me? I’m so ready to move, it gets depressing at times.

Hi Jenny, I can see where you feel challenged with your kitchen. Is there a closet or area where you can locate shelves elsewhere to hold kitchen items? Clearly creativity is the best way to go in a small kitchen! I have a Pinterest board for small kitchens. You may find some ideas on that too. https://www.pinterest.com/h20bungalow/small-space-kitchens/ Good luck!

When My husband and I moved into our current place a few years ago, there was no pantry in the kitchen! The layout is horrible in my opinion. There was a built in china cabinet, so we had to get creative, frosted the glass to the cabinet and turned it into a pantry, so you cant see our food as easily, but I still keep it organized inside with dollar store containers. If it wasn’t for converting that cabinet, we would not have had anywhere to store our food. It’s hard too it being a rental, we had to get permission from the landlord to frost the glass even though the frosting on the glass is removable. I am so glad that my husband thought of that idea, I was going to lose my mind without a pantry…lol

Leslie, Your solution was smart! Our kitchen didn’t have a pantry when we moved in either. I don’t understand how anyone could design a kitchen without making space for storage… Obviously they are lots of them out there! LOL Thanks so much for your visit:)

Wendi that little chart with the measuring cups is just adorable. Now if only we could add the metric sysem to it. I read books in both systems and frequently get mixed up…lol. Also love your colorful pantry!!

Hi Mary… Thank you my friend! I think my head would start spinning if I had to cook (or work for that matter) in both systems! You just came up with what I think would be a popular project! How about a conversion chart for inside the cabinet? That would be so handy! ..and thanks on my pantry, I allowed myself to be brave with crazy color:)

Thanks so much Gail! It’s a time saver and handy. The pantry used to be a hallway to the third bedroom which is now my studio. I kind of got crazy with paint one day and made the inside crazy colorful 🙂

Wendi, I love your organizational skills my kitchen is not that small, but the layout is really bad. This house was built in 71 and still has original cabinets (can you believe it).
Do you know if it is possible to take a section of cabinets out in a corner and put new ones in and not replace the whole section, I want to replace the upper and lower in the corner, the cabinets that are currently there are just wasted space, you can’t get to anything once you put it in there.
Wendi says
Hi Patty! Learning to make the best of my small space was truly trial and error. You can replace a section of cabinets but it could be opening a can of worms work wise and financially. Is it possible to look around and swap the use/storage of those cabinets with another one or something else all together? Just like using the space under the sink for other items like I shared in my kitchen storage post. I also use a deep drawer in the island for pots and pans, a thin 8″ cabinet for baking sheets and cutting boards, the top cabinet above the stove & microwave for items I don’t use often and two Mid Century Modern waterfall nightstands end to end to look like a buffet space in my dining area to store placemats, tablecloths, etc. Hope that gives you some ideas:)
